Chełm officials plan reforms following declining matura exam results

Chełm city authorities have announced plans to analyze and implement corrective programs following a significant decline in high school graduation (matura) exam results. During a recent Chełm City Council session, officials acknowledged that student performance has dropped compared to previous years.

Data indicates a downward trend in both pass rates and average scores across core subjects. In 2023, the average pass rate in Chełm was 95%, with subject averages of 66% for Polish, 70% for mathematics, and 81% for English. By 2025, the pass rate fell to 78%, with Polish scores dropping to 62%, mathematics to 59%, and English to 74%. The most recent figures show a pass rate of 76.8%, with average scores of approximately 49% for Polish, 56% for mathematics, and 71% for English.
