Chemainus Rotary Club hosts fundraiser for polio eradication

The Rotary Club of Chemainus is organizing a community fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Chemainus Country Grocer to support global efforts to eradicate polio. Held in recognition of World Polio Day, the event will run from 10 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m. and will include a hot dog sale and an information table regarding Rotary International’s ‘End Polio Now’ campaign.

In addition to food sales, the club will offer crocus bulbs by donation. The crocus serves as a symbol for the polio eradication campaign. Terry Jacques, the club’s membership chair, noted that while global vaccination efforts have significantly reduced cases, the disease remains a priority for the organization to ensure it does not return.
