Chemical industry leaders push for competitiveness and regulatory reform in Europe

The European chemical industry is facing significant pressure regarding competitiveness, regulatory burdens, and energy costs. At a high-level expert debate organized by the Polish Chamber of Chemical Industry (PIPC) in the European Parliament, leaders discussed the necessity of securing cheaper energy and stable raw material supplies to maintain strategic production capabilities within Europe.

Key regulatory topics included the revision of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), the efficiency of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and the implementation of a circular economy. Tomasz Zieliński, President of PIPC, emphasized the importance of maintaining free CO2 emission allowances and preferential treatment for process emissions to prevent the loss of industrial installations and jobs.

In Poland, the Polish Association of Paint and Adhesive Manufacturers (PZPFK) participated in the Poland Coatings Expo 2026. The association used the event to engage in dialogue regarding market situations, regulatory changes, and industry challenges. The PZPFK was recognized by the National Federation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises for its efforts in industry integration and development.
