Chełmiec municipality faces political conflict during extraordinary council session

Political tensions continue in the Chełmiec municipality following an extraordinary council session held without the presence of the mayor or municipal officials. The meeting, attended by 11 council members, met the legal quorum required to pass resolutions.

Two key resolutions were passed during the session. The first addressed changes to the status of the Municipal Cultural Center to facilitate the operation of a village community center in Chełmiec. The second resolution expressed formal opposition to the actions of Mayor Stanisław Kuzak, alleging that his conduct violates the dignity of the Chełmiec Municipal Council members.

Councilman Marek Poręba stated that members had faced threats and pressure regarding the community center resolution, including the potential suspension of its activities. Conversely, the group of council members present argued that the changes proposed by the mayor could lead to 'uncontrolled transfers of public funds' and discretionary management of municipal assets.
