Chemmy Alcott suffers collapsed lung after failed jump in France

Former Olympic skier and BBC Sport presenter Chemmy Alcott suffered a collapsed lung following a failed front flip into Lake Annecy in the French Alps. While on a family holiday, the 44-year-old attempted a jump from a five-metre platform, resulting in a hard landing and medical complications.

Alcott shared the incident on Instagram, noting that she initially attempted another jump due to embarrassment before realizing she was struggling to breathe. The injury required a chest drain and several nights of hospitalization. Alcott, who retired from competitive skiing in 2014, has since established a career in television broadcasting, including hosting ‘Ski Sunday’ and appearing on ‘Dancing On Ice’.
