Chemnitzer Jugendopen hosts 222 youth chess players

The 21st Chemnitzer Jugendopen chess tournament took place on September 12, 2026, in Chemnitz, Germany. The rapid chess event hosted 222 players in Messehalle 2.

Representing the Schachgemeinschaft Leipzig (SGL), nine youth players competed across various age categories from U8 to U16. SGL participants achieved notable results, including Timo Richter securing 2nd place in the U8 category, Clara Baumgärtel taking 3rd place in the U10w category, and Norwin Hauffe earning 2nd place in the U12 category. The SGL team also secured 5th place in the overall team standings.
