Chen Hsing-yu switches to Discord for family communication

Chen Hsing-yu, daughter of former President Chen Shui-bian, has drawn public attention for her unconventional use of the communication platform Discord to chat with her son. Following the exposure of screenshots showing a group chat titled ‘Big Cannon,’ Chen explained that the switch from LINE was prompted by her son's suggestion. She cited technical frustrations with LINE, specifically the difficulty of backing up data and the loss of photos when switching mobile devices.

This shift in communication coincides with a notable change in Chen's relationship with the media. Previously known for her volatile confrontations with reporters during her father's presidency, Chen has transitioned from publicly rebuking journalists to actively engaging with them through social media groups. She has also become more open regarding personal matters, including her divorce and the management of her children's education funds.
