Chen Ying-Chun extends with Beijing Shougang for three years
Taiwanese basketball star Chen Ying-Chun has reportedly reached a three-year contract extension with his CBA team, Beijing Shougang. According to Chinese media reports, Chen will sign a Type D maximum contract, which under current CBA regulations allows for an annual salary of up to 6 million RMB (approximately 28 million TWD).
The negotiations reportedly involved a period of back-and-forth. While Chen’s team initially sought a four-year maximum contract with increased commercial endorsement shares, Beijing Shougang was hesitant to offer such a long term due to Chen’s age (33) and the team's need to manage future contracts for other core players.
Despite interest from several professional basketball teams in Taiwan attempting to recruit him with high salaries, Chen has chosen to remain in the CBA, where he maintains a stable tactical role as a key backcourt leader. This decision follows the recent move of another top Taiwanese player, Lin Ting-Chien, who returned to Taiwan to join the TPBL.
