Chen Ying hosts family event in Taitung to promote parenting policies

Chen Ying, a candidate for Taitung County Magistrate, hosted the ‘Kid Kid Taitung – Parent-Child Free Exploration Day’ at Huoshui Lake. The event, held during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, featured activities such as storytelling, handicrafts, and sailing to encourage outdoor exploration for families.

During the event, Chen outlined her parenting-focused political platform. Her proposals include expanding subsidies for postpartum care, such as meals and home-based services in rural areas, and increasing public childcare resources with a goal of ‘one public childcare center per township.’ She also emphasized the need for more parent-friendly public spaces and parks designed with child participation.

Chen noted that while central government support is increasing—including a monthly 5,000 TWD growth allowance for children aged 0 to 18 and expanded parental leave—she aims to further enhance local support systems. Taitung County Magistrate Rao Ching-ling also attended the event.
