Chen Yun Bao Quan opens Taipei Dome store; Ju Ge Li Zi pivots to fresh snacks
The century-old Taiwanese pastry brand Chen Yun Bao Quan has officially opened its new store at the Taipei Dome. To mark the occasion, the company announced that all sales revenue from the opening day on October 10 will be donated to the Taiwan Public Welfare Alliance to support individuals with disabilities.
In addition to the charitable initiative, the brand introduced a new chocolate-flavored version of its “world’s smallest sun cake,” a product developed over ten years to offer a bite-sized, convenient snack. The expansion into the Taipei Dome aims to bring the traditional Taichung pastry culture closer to northern Taiwan consumers and international tourists.
In China, the snack brand Ju Ge Li Zi is attempting a strategic pivot. After previously operating up to 300 stores focused on roasted chestnuts, the company has rebranded as a “fresh snack” provider. Its new flagship store recently opened at the Longfor Daxing Tianjie in Beijing, moving into a high-demand sector that includes short-shelf-life baked goods and chilled snacks. However, industry analysts note that this transition requires significantly more complex supply chain infrastructure, including cold chain logistics and daily delivery capabilities, compared to traditional roasted nut retail.
