Chen Yung-chi retires after 33-year career with Uni-President Lions

Chen Yung-chi, a veteran star for the Uni-President 7-ELEVEN Lions, officially retired following a two-day ceremony at the Tainan APAC Baseball Stadium. The event drew a cumulative total of 41,464 fans over two days, with the final day setting a single-game attendance record for the stadium with 21,351 spectators. During the ceremony, Chen received a commemorative bat from President Lai Ching-te and shared reflections on his 33-year career, noting the growth of the CPBL from an average of 3,000 spectators per game to over 10,000.

In the final game of the retirement series, the Fubon Guardians defeated the Uni-President Lions 4-3. Fubon's Fan Kuo-chen drove in all four of his team's runs, including a decisive hit in the 8th inning. Fubon manager Mitsunori Goto noted that his team prepared for aggressive pitching changes to counter the Lions' strong competitive drive during the retirement festivities. The game featured a critical relief appearance by Zeng Chun-yue, who neutralized a scoring threat in the 7th inning to help secure the victory for the Guardians.
