Cheng Li-wen personally purchases 9,780 mooncake boxes from sheltered workshops

Kuomintang (KMT) Chairperson Cheng Li-wen announced that she has personally spent 4.02 million TWD to purchase 9,780 boxes of Mid-Autumn Festival mooncakes from 20 sheltered workshops.

This initiative follows reports that the Presidential Office canceled orders for approximately 15,000 mooncakes from 37 sheltered workshops. Cheng stated that she is undertaking this purchase in her personal capacity to ensure the workshops are supported and to avoid using KMT party funds, which she noted are currently limited.

The mooncakes will be distributed by local party branches to disadvantaged families and groups. Cheng criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for using vulnerable groups as political leverage during ongoing budget disputes.
