Chengdu highlighted as ideal city by CCIC Vice President

Massimo Bagnasco, Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIC), has identified Chengdu as the most livable city in China. Speaking at the 19th China-EU Cooperation Fair for investment, trade, and technology, Bagnasco noted that the city successfully integrates economic vitality and technological progress with a high quality of life and deep cultural identity.

Economic and logistical ties between Chengdu and Italy continue to strengthen. The city maintains sister-city relationships with Palermo, Milan, and Bologna. Recent data shows bilateral passenger air traffic exceeded 190,000 in 2025, marking an annual increase of over 50 percent. Additionally, freight trains from Chengdu reach four Italian cities, including Milan, contributing to bilateral trade volumes that reached 680 million euros in 2025.

Further cooperation includes the recent inauguration of the Chengdu headquarters for the China-Italy Joint Research Center on Urban Civilization.
