Cheniere Energy completes Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion
Cheniere Energy has announced the substantial completion of its Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage 3 Project in Texas. The expansion, executed by contractor Bechtel Energy, adds a seventh liquefaction train, increasing the company’s total LNG production capacity by over 20% to approximately 56 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).
In conjunction with this expansion, Cheniere reached a milestone by exporting its 5,000th cargo of liquefied natural gas. The shipment, carried by the Yari LNG carrier, departed from the Sabine Pass facility in Louisiana and is destined for Asian markets. Since beginning operations in 2016, the company has supplied more than 340 million tonnes of LNG globally.
