Cheniere Energy Partners has entered a lump‑sum engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement with Bechtel Energy for Phase 1 of the Sabine Pass LNG expansion project in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The first phase includes Train 7, a boil‑off gas re‑liquefaction unit and related infrastructure, increasing LNG production capacity by more than 6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). Cheniere issued a limited notice to proceed, allowing early engineering and procurement work to begin, and plans to reach a final investment decision on the phase by early 2027.

The Sabine Pass terminal already produces over 30 mtpa of LNG and the broader expansion aims for up to three liquefaction trains with a total peak capacity of around 20 mtpa. The project is subject to regulatory approvals and financing arrangements, with applications pending at the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy.
