Chennai infrastructure: New GCC corridor and metro rail works

Tamil Nadu is proposing a dedicated Global Capability Centre (GCC) corridor in Chennai to support the city’s growing tech and corporate sectors. The initiative focuses on three major business corridors: Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR), the Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam Radial Road, and Mount-Poonamallee High Road. The programme aims to upgrade shared infrastructure and increase Floor Space Index (FSI) for eligible GCC campuses to expand office capacity.

In conjunction with regional development, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic diversions on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR) from September 1 to September 5, 2026. These night-time diversions, occurring between 11 pm and 5 am, are necessary to facilitate Chennai Metro Rail phase-2 construction and sewer pipeline rectification works near the Elnet office. The diversions affect the stretch from Tidel Park Junction to Indira Nagar Signal, with specific rerouting measures in place for heavy vehicles and light vehicles near Madhya Kailash and Guindy.
