Chennai Open 2026: Indian players prepare for WTA 250 main draw

The singles main draw of the WTA 250 Chennai Open is set to begin Monday at the SDAT Tennis Stadium. Three Indian players, Vaishnavi Adkar, Sahaja Yamalapalli, and 17-year-old wild card Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi, will lead the home contingent.

Adkar, the highest-ranked Indian in the draw, is scheduled to face Great Britain’s Jodie Burrage. Yamalapalli will compete against Switzerland’s Simona Waltert, while Revathi faces eighth seed Katarzyna Kawa of Poland.

The tournament draw has undergone revisions following the injury withdrawals of second seed Lilli Tagger and ninth seed Harriet Dart. Earlier qualifying rounds saw Aliona Falei, Kyoka Okamura, Weronika Falkowska, and Zhibek Kulambayeva secure their spots in the main draw.

While several Indian qualifiers, including Shrivalli Bhamidipaty and Diya Ramesh, were eliminated during the qualifying stages, 14-year-old Jensi Kanabar gained attention by winning a set against fifth seed Weronika Falkowska.
