Chennai Police Inspector Arrested for Extorting Trader
Police in Greater Chennai arrested Inspector Mohammed Bukhari after trader Anil Kumar filed a complaint alleging that the officer had extorted lakhs of rupees over two years. Kumar, a stock‑market trader, said Bukhari threatened to implicate him in the 2024 murder investigation of BSP leader Armstrang unless he paid money. The inspector reportedly demanded cash on several occasions, including a recent visit to the trader’s residence where he collected ₹5 lakh, which Kumar later handed to police near Washroompet Metro Station. Senior police officials have opened an investigation into the extortion allegations, while the Central Bureau of Investigation continues its probe of the murder case.
