Chennai: Six arrested in murder of Class 12 student

Six individuals have been arrested following the murder of a 16-year-old Class 12 student, identified as Dhanush, in Tiruvottiyur, Chennai. The incident occurred on Friday, August 14, near a government school.

Preliminary investigations suggest the killing stemmed from a dispute regarding seniority between Class 11 and Class 12 students. Reports indicate that two days prior to the attack, a heated argument took place involving Dhanush and a Class 11 student. Although teachers had reportedly intervened to resolve the matter on Thursday, the conflict escalated on Friday afternoon.

Dhanush was allegedly lured to a vacant field behind a bus terminus by a group of approximately 10 students and former students. During the assault, he suffered severe injuries and seizures, eventually being declared dead on arrival at Stanley Government Hospital.

Tiruvottiyur police have registered a murder case and are continuing their investigation to identify further suspects. The victim's parents have reportedly refused to receive his body, demanding justice for their son.
