Chennai Super Kings overhaul coaching staff ahead of IPL 2027

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are undergoing a major management overhaul ahead of the IPL 2027 season. As part of this restructuring, the franchise has parted ways with long-serving batting coach Michael Hussey, who served the team for eight years following a six-year playing career with the club.

In addition to Hussey's departure, former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan has been appointed as the new head coach, succeeding Stephen Fleming after his 16-year tenure. Mohit Sharma has taken over the role of bowling coach from Eric Simons. The future of fielding coach James Foster remains uncertain.

Reports indicate that MS Dhoni played a decisive role in these coaching changes. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that the decision to appoint Zaheer Khan was suggested by Dhoni and discussed with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and team owners. The new coaching staff faces the immediate task of preparing for the player auction scheduled for December.
