Chennai Super Kings seek new head coach after Stephen Fleming departure

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are searching for a new head coach following the departure of Stephen Fleming, who ended an 18-year association with the franchise after the team failed to qualify for the playoffs for three consecutive years.

Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad stated that the management is not in a rush to appoint a successor, noting there is plenty of time before the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Gaikwad also addressed the pressure of succeeding MS Dhoni, acknowledging the high expectations following the team's historic success under Fleming's leadership.

Former CSK players R Ashwin and Matthew Hayden recently discussed the possibility of either taking on the coaching role. Ashwin expressed uncertainty regarding the ease of transitioning into a coaching position during an auction year, while Hayden clarified that he has not been approached by the franchise for the position. Additionally, former player Subramaniam Badrinath suggested that Dinesh Karthik should remain with Royal Challengers Bengaluru rather than pursuing the CSK role.
