Chenôve opposition protests ban on Cercle Sportif Laïque
The municipal opposition group ‘Le Bon Sens 100 % Chenôve’ is challenging the decision to bar the Cercle Sportif Laïque (CSL) from using municipal sports facilities. The ban, which began on August 20, was implemented by the city as a precautionary measure due to the amateur football club's financial difficulties.
Opposition members, led by Philippe Neyraud, have accused the municipality of ‘two weights, two measures.’ They pointed out that other local organizations, such as the Chenôve Basketball Club and Rugby Club, previously maintained access to municipal infrastructure despite facing significantly higher debts.
The club's president has acknowledged budget assessment errors and issues regarding unpaid licenses. The opposition is calling for an immediate re-examination of the decision and a transparent review of the club's financial situation to find a sustainable solution for its 180 members.
