Cheoin-gu, Yongin installs climate-controlled bus shelters
Cheoin-gu, Yongin Special City, has completed a project to replace or install 10 new bus shelters equipped with heating and cooling facilities. The initiative aims to provide citizens with comfortable waiting areas during extreme heat and cold.
The project, titled the ‘Bus Infrastructure Improvement Project’, utilized a total budget of 650 million KRW, including 455 million KRW from city funds and 195 million KRW from provincial funds. Key locations updated include Myongji University entrance, Yongin Terminal, and various administrative and medical hubs.
Some locations, such as the Sangyugok, Budsil, and Bopyeong Seohee Star Hills stop, were converted into indoor-style shelters to protect commuters from vehicle exhaust and dust. The district plans to continue expanding these climate-controlled facilities based on usage patterns and local environmental conditions.
