Cheonan ladder truck accident kills 7-year-old boy

A 7-year-old boy died after being crushed by a moving ladder truck at an apartment complex in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province. The accident occurred around 8:38 a.m. on the 27th while the child was heading to school.

Police investigations revealed that the workers failed to follow safety protocols by only installing stabilizers on one side of the ladder truck instead of both sides while extending it to the 11th floor of a 28-story building.

Authorities have arrested two individuals: a driver in his 50s and a foreign national in his 20s. The foreign worker was identified as an undocumented immigrant. The driver is facing additional charges of concealing a criminal, as he initially provided false statements to police to hide the colleague's illegal status.
