The Cheongju Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor is conducting a concentrated inspection week from the 6th to the 16th, targeting construction sites and workplaces within its jurisdiction. The inspections focus on the provision and use of protective equipment and compliance with ladder safety protocols to prevent fatal accidents.

Data from the first half of the year indicates that falls are the leading cause of workplace fatalities. Officials emphasized that while protective gear is a critical last line of defense when engineering or administrative controls are difficult to implement, inspections should aim for actual behavioral changes and accident reduction rather than merely increasing the number of inspections conducted.
