Cheongju wins overall at Chungcheongbuk-do Citizens Sports Festival

The 65th Chungcheongbuk-do Citizens Sports Festival concluded in Eumseong after a three-day competition involving approximately 5,000 athletes from 11 cities and counties. Cheongju took first place in the overall standings, followed by Eumseong in second and Jincheon in third. In the student division, Cheongju also secured the top position, with Eumseong and Jincheon ranking second and third, respectively.

In the Ssireum (traditional wrestling) student division, Eumseong claimed the overall victory. Representing Eumseong, Yongcheon Elementary School achieved significant success, winning two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze. Notable individual performances included gold medals for Im Ji-woo and Lee Do-hwan, a silver for Choi Yeon-ho, and a bronze for Moon Hak-jun.

The festival featured cultural performances inspired by local traditions such as ‘Pumba’ and ‘Turtle Play,’ and the ceremonial flame was lit at the Bonghakgol Local Garden. The 66th festival is scheduled to be held in Boeun.
