Cheongsong County secures 74.2 billion won for disaster prevention

Cheongsong County has secured 74.2 billion won for disaster prevention projects after being selected for the ‘2027 Disaster Risk Area Improvement Project’ led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. This funding targets four specific districts, marking the largest scale of such projects in Gyeongsangbuk-do. Combined with previous funding, the county's total disaster prevention budget for these initiatives reaches 120.4 billion won over two years.

The projects aim to mitigate secondary damages caused by previous large-scale wildfires and risks from heavy rainfall. In the Cheongsong-eup district, which suffered forest damage from wildfires, the county will install new drainage pump stations, renovate nearly 1,000 meters of rainwater pipes, and construct three check dams to prevent landslides and debris flows.

In the Andeok district, efforts will focus on improving the water conveyance capacity of local streams, rebuilding bridges, and installing early warning systems including water level gauges and CCTV. Additionally, the county will implement safety measures for steep slopes in the Jiso 2 district and renovate the Hwanggol Reservoir, which received a D grade in a recent safety diagnosis.
