Cheongsong County to invest 8.3 billion won in Juwangsan forest restoration

Cheongsong County has announced a major ecological restoration project for Juwangsan National Park following a large-scale wildfire in March 2025. The initiative will involve an investment of 8.3 billion won between 2026 and 2029.

The project focuses on 195 hectares of the 3,253-hectare damaged area where natural regeneration is deemed difficult. The primary goals are to restore forest functions and prevent secondary disasters, such as landslides and soil erosion, during heavy rainfall.

Following a recent feasibility study final report meeting involving the Korea Forest Service, Gyeongsangbuk-do officials, and local experts, the county plans to proceed with detailed design and implementation. The project will include continuous monitoring to ensure the stable recovery of the forest ecosystem.
