CHEP opens largest Italian logistics hub in Lacchiarella
CHEP, a leader in supply chain services, has inaugurated its largest service center in Italy located in Lacchiarella, south of Milan. The new 35,000-square-meter facility was developed in collaboration with AF Group and is designed to support business growth for at least the next decade.
The hub is the company’s largest in Italy by managed volume, offering significantly higher capacity than its predecessor. The facility features advanced automation, including a camera-based system that automatically inspects pallets for quality standards, moisture levels, and the need for repairs or cleaning. It also includes systems for removing surface contaminants and detecting phytosanitary marks.
Sustainability is a core component of the new site, which incorporates features such as photovoltaic installations and an electric fleet to enhance network resilience and efficiency.
