Chery and Aumovio partner to supply automotive components from Romania
Chinese automaker Chery has entered into a strategic agreement with technology company Aumovio, formerly Continental Automotive, to support its upcoming vehicle production in Europe. Under this partnership, Aumovio will supply airbag control units (ACU) for Chery models manufactured on the continent.
The ACUs will be produced at Aumovio’s manufacturing facilities in Timișoara and Sibiu, Romania, following a “produce in Europe, deliver locally” model. This collaboration is part of a broader initiative launched at the Paris Motor Show to build a sustainable automotive supply chain in Europe.
Aumovio intends to leverage its research and development capabilities and its existing European production network to support Chery’s localized industrialization. This agreement marks a significant step in Chery’s strategy to establish a localized manufacturing presence in Europe, utilizing a network of European suppliers to sustain its expansion.
