Chery and Kia expand pickup truck offerings in Brazil
Chery is developing a new intermediate unibody pickup truck for the Brazilian market to compete with models such as the Fiat Toro, Ram Rampage, and BYD Mako. The project, managed by the company’s headquarters in China, will focus on electrification, with plans to offer plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and potentially fully electric versions. The vehicle is expected to be approximately 5 meters in length and feature a double cab.
Meanwhile, Kia has launched the top-tier PGL version of the Tasman pickup in Brazil, priced at R$ 319,990. This high-end configuration includes a 2.2-liter Smartstream turbodiesel engine producing 210 cv, 4x4 traction, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The PGL trim distinguishes itself with a full ADAS safety package, including adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking, alongside a refined interior featuring 29.6 inches of integrated screens.
