Chery Group expands global presence with iCAR brand and German market entry

Chery Group is expanding its global footprint through its new brand iCAR and a planned entry into the German market. The company intends to launch four SUV models in Germany by early 2027, focusing on hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains rather than pure electric vehicles. Chery's leadership emphasizes a cautious market entry strategy, prioritizing the establishment of a robust dealer and service network to build long-term consumer trust.

Simultaneously, the iCAR brand is introducing new extended-range electric vehicles (EREV). The iCAR V25 and V27 models utilize a system where a small battery is supplemented by a gasoline engine that acts solely as a generator to provide electricity. For instance, the V27 features a 34.3 kWh CATL battery and a 60-liter fuel tank, allowing it to maintain high speeds even when the battery is depleted. These models are designed with rugged, off-road aesthetics and advanced technology, including LiDAR for assisted driving.
