Chery expands European presence with brand launches in France and Romania
The Chinese automotive group Chery is aggressively expanding its international presence, specifically targeting European markets through its various brands. Following the launch of Omoda & Jaecoo, the group is introducing its eponymous Chery brand to France with a lineup of three hybrid SUVs, including the Tiggo 7. The company aims to establish 200 points of sale for each of its brands by the end of 2027.
Simultaneously, Chery’s Jetour brand has entered the Romanian market, positioning itself as a competitor to established brands like Dacia, Kia, and MG. Jetour is launching with four SUV models: the X50, Dashing, X70 Plus, and the T2 off-roader. The strategy focuses on offering larger, well-equipped vehicles at competitive prices, such as the seven-seater X70 Plus and the high-performance T2.
Chery’s broader global ambitions include reaching one million non-China sales by 2026 and expanding into 35 new countries. The group reported significant growth in exports, with 407,000 vehicles exported in the first half of 2026 alone.
