Chery Group unveils Globalisation 3.0 strategy and expansion plans
At the 2026 Chery International User Summit in Wuhu, China, Chery Group announced its ‘Globalisation 3.0’ strategy. The initiative aims to transform the company from a traditional automaker into a high-tech ecosystem cluster by 2035 through the integration of AI and green technologies.
The strategy focuses on deep local integration, moving beyond simple exports to establish local R&D, manufacturing, and procurement in over 130 countries. This approach seeks to align with local customs and contribute to regional economies through job creation and tax revenue.
In terms of market expansion, the company’s Omoda & Jaecoo sub-brand plans to enter 99 markets by 2027, including Japan, South Korea, Canada, and several European nations. Chery is also exploring potential partnerships in the United States, with executives suggesting the possibility of developing vehicles that do not rely on Chinese hardware or software to address national security concerns.
Technological showcases at the summit included the unveiling of the Omoda X, a futuristic SUV, and demonstrations of Level 4 autonomous robotaxis, vehicle-to-grid technology, and the TIGGO 7, which underwent a public crash test to demonstrate structural safety.
