Chery Fulwin A9 garners 18,000 pre‑orders in China with claimed 99 km/l efficiency

Chery launched the Fulwin A9 sedan in China on July 9, 2024. Within the first 72 hours the model attracted 18,173 firm pre‑orders, according to executive vice‑president Li Xueyong. The car is offered in a plug‑in hybrid (EREV) version that pairs a 1.5 L engine used solely as a generator with an electric drivetrain, and in a fully electric (BEV) version equipped with a 242 hp rear motor and a 70.11 kWh LFP battery that delivers up to 655 km of range on the CLTC cycle.

Chery advertises a combined fuel‑economy figure of 99 km per litre (CLTC) for the hybrid variant, achieved by the generator‑assisted system. The sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and is priced from 115,900 yuan (about R$ 87,000) for the base model, with higher‑trim versions reaching roughly 135,900 yuan. Technological highlights include a 15.6‑inch 2.5K multimedia screen, a 23‑speaker sound system, and the Falcon driver‑assist package that incorporates 27 sensors—LiDAR, radars, cameras and ultrasonic units. Chery also pledged to replace any vehicle that suffers total battery‑thermal failure.

The strong pre‑sale response underscores the market’s interest in efficient, technology‑rich sedans, though the company has not announced plans to bring the Fulwin A9 to Brazil.
