Chery unveils AI technology strategy and rapid charging solutions
At the 2026 Chery Global Innovation Conference in Wuhu, China, Chery Auto announced a strategic shift toward becoming an AI-driven intelligent technology company. The company introduced its “YaoGuang 2035” vision, aiming to build a high-tech industrial ecosystem focused on four pillars: mobility, energy, food, and lifestyle freedom.
Key technological advancements include the CheryMind large model and the Ziwei chip series. In the energy sector, Chery debuted its “Volt-dragon” (Xunlong Instant Charging) technology, which claims to deliver up to 1.44 MW of power, potentially adding 500 kilometers of range in just five minutes. The company also plans to establish over 20,000 charging stations globally by 2029.
Additionally, Chery is expanding its brand portfolio. The premium brand LEPAS is set to enter the Middle East market in November, with models like the L8 PHEV launching in the UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar. The company also highlighted its partnership with JLR through the international debut of the Freelander 8, a plug-in hybrid SUV designed for global markets.
