Chery hits 20 million global vehicle sales, boosts exports

Chery announced it has sold over 20 million vehicles worldwide, becoming the first Chinese automaker to reach that milestone. The 20‑millionth unit was the Fulwin A9 electric sedan, a premium model that echoes the brand’s first production car.

In the first half of 2026 the group exported 943,800 cars – a 71.5% rise from the same period in 2025 – averaging one vehicle leaving China every 17 seconds. Chery now sells in more than 130 markets, with about 7 million customers outside China and roughly 35 % of total sales coming from abroad, driven by strong growth in Europe, notably the United Kingdom where it ranked among the top two brands for four consecutive months. The company operates eight global R&D centres, 36 factories and employs around 150 000 people, over 20 000 of whom work outside China.
