Chery iCar V23 wins Red Dot Design Award

The Chery iCar V23 electric SUV has received the prestigious 2026 Red Dot Design Award in the concept design category. The vehicle features a retro, boxy aesthetic that combines off-road ruggedness with modern electric vehicle minimalism.

Chery's electric subsidiary, iCar, has stated that the V23 design was inspired by two distinct models: the Ford Bronco and the Tesla Model S. According to Dr. Su Jun, Chery Vice President and design director, the goal was to merge the quiet, emission-free cabin experience of a luxury sedan with the high ground clearance and tough exterior of a rugged off-roader.

Key design elements include round headlights and a grille reminiscent of the Ford Bronco, paired with flat body panels and flush door handles inspired by Tesla. The vehicle also includes a unique rear storage box, referred to by the company as a “practical backpack,” designed to hold charging cables.
