Chery launches EV SUVs in Romania and Malaysia
Chinese automaker Chery is expanding its electric SUV lineup into new markets. In Romania, the company will introduce the iCAUR V27 under the iCAUR brand, a range‑extended electric vehicle aimed at the rugged SUV segment. The launch is planned for October 2026 with sales expected in early 2027, and the model promises over 150 km of pure electric range and more than 1,000 km total range using a 1.5 L turbo‑generator.
In Southeast Asia, Chery has begun production of the iCar V23 at a new plant in Selangor, Malaysia. The factory, operational from July 2026, can initially produce 100,000 vehicles per year. The V23 is a boxy all‑electric SUV priced from 119,800 to 132,800 ringgit, offering up to 155 kW dual‑motor output and ranges of 401–550 km. This marks Chery’s deeper push into the regional EV market.
