Chery recognized as most reliable Chinese car brand, plans German expansion

Chery has been named the most reliable Chinese automotive brand for the second consecutive year, according to the J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) for China. The study, which relies on owner feedback regarding vehicles aged 13 to 48 months rather than laboratory testing, gave Chery a score of 181 PP100 (problems per 100 vehicles). This performance outperforms the Chinese market average of 192 PP100 and even exceeds the average of premium manufacturers, which stood at 183 PP100.

Building on its market position, Chery plans to expand its presence in Germany starting in early 2027. While the company has previously exported vehicles to Germany under the Omoda and Jaecoo brands, it will begin selling directly under the Chery name. The initial rollout will feature four SUVs from the Tiggo family, ranging from compact to upper mid-size segments. These models will be offered as full hybrids or plug-in hybrids, including the Tiggo 4, Tiggo 7, and the Tiggo 8 plug-in hybrid.
