Chery Tiggo 2 receives zero stars in Latin NCAP safety tests
The Chery Tiggo 2 compact SUV has received a zero-star rating from Latin NCAP, marking one of the worst results in the organization’s history. Under the updated 2026 testing protocols, the vehicle scored 0% in both adult occupant protection and child occupant protection.
During frontal impact tests, investigators identified an unstable body structure and footwell area. The assessment also noted high chest compression for the driver and a significant risk of fire following a collision, which could endanger both passengers and emergency responders. The vehicle lacks standard side head protection, meaning it was not subjected to side pole impact testing.
In child safety evaluations, the test dummies representing a 10-year-old and a 3-year-old faced high risks to the head and neck, with the younger child at risk of being ejected from the seat during side impacts. The Tiggo 2 also scored 48.89% for pedestrian protection and 45.45% for safety assistance systems. While the model includes four airbags and electronic stability control as standard, it lacks advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), seatbelt pretensioners, and load limiters for rear passengers.
