Chery Tiggo 2 receives zero-star safety rating from Latin NCAP
The Chery Tiggo 2, a compact SUV from Chinese manufacturer Chery, has received a zero-star safety rating in crash tests conducted by Latin NCAP. The testing utilized the updated 2026 safety protocols.
According to the report, the vehicle failed to meet minimum safety requirements, scoring 0% in both Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection. While the model includes four airbags and an Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system as standard, the structural integrity of the chassis was found to be insufficient. During frontal impact tests, the footwell area deformed heavily, resulting in high chest compression forces for the driver.
Latin NCAP also identified a significant fire risk during the frontal crash test. Additional safety deficiencies included the absence of side head protection airbags, which prevented the completion of side pole impact tests, and a lack of seatbelt pretensioners and load limiters for rear passengers. The vehicle achieved 48.89% in pedestrian protection and 45.45% in safety assist systems.
