Chery Tiggo 9 hybrid covers 1,029 km on a single fuel tank and battery charge across the Baltics
A three‑day real‑world trial of the plug‑in hybrid Chery Tiggo 9 was conducted across Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The vehicle travelled a total of 1,029 km—395 km in Lithuania, 399 km in Latvia and 235 km in Estonia—using only one fuel tank and one battery charge. The route combined highways, city streets and coastal roads, allowing the test to reflect everyday driving conditions that laboratory WLTP cycles cannot fully reproduce.
Organised as the “Chery Baltic Journey”, the trial featured hand‑over teams in each country, creating a continuous narrative of the hybrid’s performance on public roads. The results are intended to demonstrate the technology’s efficiency and emissions profile outside the controlled environment of a test bench, providing manufacturers and consumers with more authentic data.
The experiment underscores a broader shift in automotive journalism toward longer, open‑road assessments rather than short, closed‑track runs, aiming to give buyers clearer evidence of how plug‑in hybrids behave in real traffic.
