Cheslin Kolbe Signs Three‑Year Deal to Return Home with the Stormers

Springbok wing Cheslin Kolbe has signed a three‑year contract with the Stormers, ending his stint with Japan’s Suntory Sungoliath to play in his native Cape Town. The 33‑year‑old accepted a significant pay cut to be closer to his wife Layla and their three children, emphasizing family as the key motive. Coach John Dobson confirmed the move, and Kolbe celebrated the return with Instagram posts captioned “Home” and “There’s no better feeling”.

Kolbe joins former teammate and Stormers captain Siya Kolisi, who also returned to the club for family reasons. Both players aim to finish their careers in South Africa while contributing experience to the team that launched their professional journeys.
