Chestnut festivals organized in Čakovec and Jesenice

Various chestnut festivals, known as Kestenijada, are being organized in Croatia to promote community gathering and health awareness.

In Čakovec, the Club of Prostate Cancer Patients of Međimurje County is hosting an event on October 17. The initiative aims to raise awareness about prostate cancer, which accounted for 30.4 percent of all newly diagnosed malignant diseases in men in Međimurje County in 2023. Alongside roasted chestnuts, experts will be available to provide information on prevention, early detection, and treatment to help reduce the stigma associated with urological examinations.

In Jesenice, the municipality is organizing a festival on October 18 in Donje Jesenice. The event features roasted and boiled chestnuts, local honey, and wine tastings. The program includes musical performances and activities for children, intended to foster social cohesion and celebrate local autumn products.
