Chestnut prices rise in Banja Luka
Chestnut prices in Banja Luka have increased significantly this season. While street vendors maintain small portion prices at three marks to ensure accessibility, the bulk price has risen by two marks compared to last year, reaching 30 marks per kilogram.
Goran Golić, president of the Chestnut Growers Association in Banja Luka, noted that sourcing high-quality chestnuts has been difficult, leading vendors to rely exclusively on domestic sources from Kostajnica. He also highlighted that the preparation process results in nearly 50 percent waste, which impacts the profitability of the seasonal business.
In contrast to street vendor prices, fresh chestnuts in Banja Luka supermarkets are available for just under ten marks per kilogram.
