Chetumal completes first stage of Boulevard Bahía lighting project
Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has announced the completion of the first stage of a new public lighting system on Boulevard Bahía in Chetumal. The project spans the stretch between the Autonomous University of Quintana Roo (UQROO) and Calderitas.
With an investment of approximately 9.8 million pesos, the Secretary of Public Works (SEOP) executed the project in coordination with the Secretariat of Citizen Security. The infrastructure improvements include the installation of 189 high-efficiency LED luminaires, 19 new poles, 189 decorative arms, over 3.5 kilometers of electrical wiring, and 100 electrical registers.
The initiative aims to enhance security, improve nighttime mobility, and reclaim public spaces for residents. The project directly benefits 31,000 inhabitants and serves an estimated daily traffic flow of 10,000 vehicles.
