Chetumal International Airport establishes new customs section

The Chetumal International Airport has officially established a customs section following its publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation. This development, announced by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, allows for the aerial entry and exit of import and export goods.

The new customs section is intended to function as part of a larger economic development ecosystem in southern Quintana Roo. It aims to integrate with the Maya Train, the Strategic Fiscalized Enclosure, the Chetumal Free Zone, and the Chetumal Economic Development Pole to create a comprehensive aerial, customs, and fiscal logistics platform.

Supported by the Ministry of Economy, the initiative is expected to increase commercial activity and improve aerial connectivity with Central America and the Caribbean, potentially generating new employment opportunities in the region.
