Chetumal launches electric bus service via Mobi system

The Integrated Transport System of the State of Quintana Roo, known as Mobi, has officially begun operations in Chetumal. Currently, the system operates a single route utilizing five electric buses from the brand Taruk.

The project is the result of an electromobility alliance between the Ministry of Science, Humanities, Technologies and Innovation (Secihti) and private companies Dina, which provides the chassis, and MegaFlux, which provides the batteries. Each vehicle has a capacity for 60 passengers and a range of 340 kilometers per charge.

While the standard fare is approximately one dollar, students and senior citizens are eligible for a 50% subsidy. The implementation follows a period of testing that began in June.
