Chetumal Oncology Hospital acquires new CT scanner
The Oncology Hospital in Chetumal has implemented a new high-generation simulator CT scanner to expand medical services for cancer patients in southern Quintana Roo. The equipment features 32-cut technology and 3D reconstruction capabilities, providing high-definition images to support diagnosis and medical planning.
A key feature of the new device is its 90-centimeter diameter tunnel, which allows the hospital to treat larger patients, a capability that was unavailable with previous equipment. Since its arrival in March, the scanner has already been used for 176 procedures.
Governor Mara Lezama Espinoso presented the equipment, noting that it will assist in treating various types of cancer, including breast, prostate, cervical, and head and neck cancers. The acquisition was made possible through coordination with the Federal Government and IMSS-Bienestar.
